Archway Seating

The Punjabi diaspora's narrative in Vancouver is an invisible layer of the city's urban fabric, one that has been forgotten in the cultural and spatial landscape.

My design operates as an intervention, reclaiming these forgotten stories by embedding them in the very spaces where the community once thrived.

The design reinterprets traditional architectural motifs, specifically the archways seen throughout North India. By placing the arch on its side, the seating introduces a new functional form, transforming this familiar cultural symbol into public seating.
